Q – ‘You seem quite young to be a professional magician, how do I know you will be any good?’
A- You don’t, but you would be surprised how many magicians there are out there most magic societies even have their own junior section. The junior Manchester magic circle I am a part of holds a competition every year in which I currently hold the title of first place.
Q – ‘I’m worried because of the risks and insurance issues, do you use fire in your act?’
A – I don’t use what you may think of as fire (i.e. flames and flame swallowing), I use what’s called in professional circles “flash” which is an instantaneous combustion – hey you’ve got to see it to believe it! As I am a member of equity which gives me third party liability insurance I’m covered for this particular effect and other performance aspects. (see below)
Q – ‘Do you have to use fire?’
A – The great thing about magic is its very flexible so any requests i.e. please avoid using open flames, I will be happy to adhere to.
Q – ‘What are your prices? It doesn’t say on the prices page?’
A- Well prices really depend on the event, where its held, how many people etc.
Q – ‘Do you perform at all events then?’
A – Many magicians may say they will not perform at some events such as children’s parties or stage magic, but my philosophy is if it has people it needs a magician.
Q – ‘When is the best time for a magician at my event?’
A- Usually it depends on the event its self, but generally speaking not whilst people are eating and magic is a great ice breaker so at the beginning of things to bring people together.
Q – ‘Do you know that trick that Chris Angel does with that coin?’
A – YES!
Q – ‘Can you make my wife disappear?’
A – It can be arranged. |
